Congratulations Ms. Berrios!
On February 10, 2011, The Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work selected Ms. Suzanne Milano-Berrios, Director of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Mental Health and Crisis Management Services, to be the recipient of the Path Award (for Professionals in Social Work) for her outstanding contribution to the wellness of children and adolescents in our community.
On April 5, 2011, Ms. Milano-Berrios will be recognized and given her award over a luncheon where other Public Health and Nutrition recipients will be honored.
The Path Awards were established to recognize individuals and organizations in public health, social work, and dietetics for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community. The awards also serve to raise the community’s awareness and understanding of the contributions made by health professionals.
Ms. Berrios, a sixteen year veteran Social Worker, is a tremendous child advocate and supporter of the School Police. She has been instrumental in developing the District’s Bullying curriculum and training our own officers in this unfortunate and emerging phenomenon.
Ms. Berrios has assisted the Department in several other initiatives, including mental health issues, prom safety and the Youth Empowerment Summit.
Congratulations Ms. Berrios. You are deserving of this recognition and reverence. You are a champion for children and a true friend of law enforcement!
