MADD Award
On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, Miami-Dade Schools Police Department (M-DSPD) Chief Charles J. Hurley attended the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Awards Ceremony Dinner and Silent Auction, which was held at the Rusty Pelican Restaurant on Key Biscayne. During the ceremony, Chief Hurley received a recognition award on behalf of the Department for the support and dedication to the program.
The mission of MADD is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. To date, the hard work and effort of MADD has saved nearly 300,000 lives…and counting.
The M-DSPD routinely participates in DUI checkpoints and saturation details, aimed at reducing DUIs throughout Miami-Dade County. Chief Hurley stated, “Each year, this terrible crime claims the lives of innocent people, many of them being our students. The entire community must come together to address this issue. Our Department is committed to enhancing the lives of our youth and safeguarding them beyond the sidewalks of our campuses.”
Chief Hurley applauded and commended the M-DSPD officers that participated in this program.
