Swearing in Ceremony

On Wednesday, January 18, 2012, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho conducted a Swearing-In Ceremony for four (4) new Miami-Dade Schools Police Department (M-DSPD) officers. The ceremony took place during the monthly School Board Meeting and the following officers were sworn in: Shanell James, Gerald Kitchell Jr., Daniel Mogro, and Jamie Reddix. Chief Charles J. Hurley and the M-DSPD Command Staff were also present to welcome the newly hired officers.

As Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Carvalho is responsible for ensuring our students have the highest quality education available; however, he also recognizes the equal importance of ensuring their safety and well being. Over the years, he has gained a true appreciation for the hard work of the men and women of the School Police, and the critical role they play in the educational process. As such, he wanted to have the opportunity to participate in this time-honored tradition, as these young officers embark on their new careers.

On behalf of the entire Department, we congratulate the new officers and wish them the best of luck in their future assignments.
